Assessment Description
This assignment is designed to enable students to apply the theoretical aspects of financial accounting theory to practical scenarios. It further provides them with an opportunity to reflect on the process and summarise their reflection in a video presentation.
At the beginning of the week 12 workshop, students will be randomly grouped into teams and provided with a Case study. They will have approximately three hours to work on their group task and submit the team’s written answer on MyKBS before the end of the workshop.
Students are also required to submit an individual video reflection by Tuesday of week 13. Learning Objectives:

The schedule for the Assessment is as follows:

Your Task Part A:
In-Class Case Study – group work (20 marks)
- You will be working in small teams on a Case study which will be given to you at the commencement of week 12 workshop. Each member of the team must fairly contribute to the group task. Before the end of the workshop, the team leader will need to submit team’s answers electronically using the link on the student portal under assessments overview and submission.
Note:
- to include the names and student ID numbers of all team members.
- use in-text referencing and provide a reference list at the end of your written answer.
Part B:
Video Reflection – individual work (10 marks)
- You are required to record a 5-minute video reflecting on:
- your personal ability (strengths and weaknesses) to work with others in the team to deliver your group task on time.
- your team’s ability to work together to solve a problem; what went well/what could have been done better?
- conflicts, if any, and how you managed to deal with them.
- overall, how satisfied were you with the team’s work.
Please be advised that in Week 10 you will undertake a practice case study on a different topic. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the process and give you greater confidence on assessment day. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you attend the class in Week 10.
Assessment Instructions
- You MUST attend Week 12 workshop to do this assignment because Part A is an in-class group work, and it is a prerequisite for Part B.
- You MUST use in-text referencing and provide a reference list at the end of your written answer.
- Your work MUST NOT be copied directly from any source. Any work copied will result in a mark of zero.
- Any work copied or shared between teams will result in a fail grade for all students concerned.
- One submission link will be available for the team’s answers and one for the video submission.
- The team leader MUST submit team’s answers to the case study questions. Note to include the name and student ID of all members of the team.
- Each student MUST submit their individual video reflection on MyKBS.
