Part 3: Group Written Report – Strategic Analysis and Plan
Deadline: End of Week 7
Length: Approximately 3000 to 4000 words total
Submission: Only one student from the group of two needs to submit via Moodle Weighting: 30% of final grade
Research must be done to provide a thorough background on the industry and environment of the client firm. Students must:
- Research using business textbooks, academic journals and credible websites. (refer to ProQuest /Ebsco/ ebrary that are accessible via Moodle)
- Construct a research supported, in-depth, analytical discussion based on a correct understanding of the case study issues.
- Use in-text citations and referencing using the Harvard referencing system
Student groups must finalise and submit the entire strategic analysis and plan with an approximate length of 4000 words (equivalent to 2000 words per student). Students are required to indicate what the report were written by each group member.

. The complete strategic analysis and plan to be submitted via Moodle should contain detailed discussions of
the following:
- Executive Summary (summary of key aspects of the analysis and plan)
- Table of Contents
- Purpose of the Report (should include background of the firm and the specific industry for entry)
- The General Environment (PESTEL analysis)
- The Industry Environment (Porter’s Five Forces Analysis)
- The Competitive Environment (discussion of key competitors’ strengths and weaknesses)
- Internal Analysis (evaluation of the firm’s capabilities, competencies and competitive advantage
using VRIO approach)
- TOWS Analysis (key points of the above analyses)
- Critique of Current Strategy
Students must identify the firm’s current strategies and evaluate them. Explain why some actions are working and why some are not. - Recommended Strategy
Use some of the strategic alternatives discussed in session 4.1 and 5.1. Give specific actions as examples. - References (use authoritative sources such as textbooks, academic journals and credible news articles. Use Harvard Referencing Style including in-text citations).
