Why is this assessment important?
There are increasing expectations that health professionals, including occupational therapists, work with consumers to develop health care services (Sarrami-Foroushani et al., 2014). Simultaneously, contemporary occupational therapy practice occurs within a range of practice contexts which, to varying degrees, influence how occupational therapists can practice. This assessment explores how occupational therapists can partner with consumers in their practice within the parameters of contemporary occupational therapy practice contexts. It does so by enabling you to explore concepts individually before merging them to demonstrate how you could partner with consumers to inform occupational therapy service development.
Instructions
- You will choose ONE (1) of the clinical scenarios that will be available to you on the Learning@Griffith page for this assessment item.
- This assessment is divided into three (3) parts.
- Part A – Demonstrate your understanding of how the practice context of your chosen scenario influences the occupational therapy practice process and/or service delivery. You should include references to the literature to support your descriptions.
- Part B – Demonstrate your understanding of the research evidence that guides how health professionals, including occupational therapists, conduct partnership activities with consumers to co-develop or co-design contemporary health care.
- Part C – You are to apply the knowledge outlined in Part A and Part B to articulate your planned partnership activity with your chosen clinical scenario. Your described process and strategies should demonstrate consideration of the uniqueness of the consumer group and the practice context of the scenario.
