Your Assessment
- This assessment will be done individually (report preparation) and as a group (presentation and role-playing), during class, and on camera.
- You will receive marks for individual report creation and group presentation.
- One submission per group.
Description:
Individual Part (500 words)
- You will write an individual report recommending your organization’s actions using social media analytics techniques to prepare and respond to a data breach.
- You will receive a case study at the beginning of the workshop, which will include specific requests that your recommendations should address.
- Be prepared to recommend and justify specific social media analytics techniques to support a solid crisis management plan.
Group Role-Playing Part (3 slides)
- Your organisation assigned your group to create and present a comprehensive Social Media Strategy to the Board.
- Students will play the following roles: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Chief Ethical Officer.
- Your group should offer recommendations for your organization’s actions to use social media analytics techniques to identify customer satisfaction levels, develop marketing initiatives, and gain an advantage over the competition. You must include ethical considerations.
Assessment Instructions
By Week 9, form groups of 4-5 students and inform your lecturer of these groups.
Individual Part (500 words; 30 marks)
You will be provided with a case study at the beginning of class. You will be asked to:
- Write an individual report to recommend your organization’s actions using social media analytics techniques to prepare and respond to a data breach.
- The case study will include specific requests that your recommendations should address.
- Be prepared to recommend and justify specific social media analytics techniques to support a solid crisis management plan.
Report Structure
· Introduction
- Introduction to using SMA to support crisis management (prevention and response).
- Discuss how SMA is being used in your organisation today.
· Recommendations
- Outline specific social media analytics techniques to support a solid crisis management plan.
- Focus on matching the specific case study requirements.
· Ethical Considerations
- Outline possible ethical issues associated with your recommendations. For example, gathering user data without consent may not be good; explain why and how to mitigate any risks.
· References and structure
- Use appropriate headings and paragraphs.
- Include a minimum of three references.
- Use the Harvard referencing style.
Group Role-Playing Part (3 slides; 10 marks)
- Your group will create and present recommendations to implement a comprehensive Social Media Strategy to the Board.
- Students will play the following roles: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), and Chief Ethical Officer.
- Your group should offer recommendations for your organization’s actions to use social media analytics techniques to identify customer satisfaction levels, develop marketing initiatives, and gain an advantage over the competition. You must include ethical considerations.
- Present the results in three (3) slides to the class. Use short sentences and more visual communication; this is not a paper!
- The group leader will upload a PDF or PowerPoint file of the slides via Turnitin at the end of class.

- Slide 2: Discuss which social media analytics techniques should be adopted to help your organisation identify customer satisfaction levels, develop marketing initiatives, and gain an advantage over the competition.
- Slide 3: Identify, present, and explain which ethical considerations should guide your recommendations adoption.
