Managing in a VUCA World Reflective Journal Assignment Solved

Reflective Journal

Module 4 is based on the self-awareness that can provide an understanding of professional development needs. Several workplace competencies are identified in the learning modules based on the term VUCA that defines Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous World. This is an effective term for individuals to accept their competencies and enter into a new business environment with a continuous learning capability (Mack, Khare, Krämer & Burgartz, 2015). Understanding of relevant concepts brings self-awareness opportunities to manage emotional intelligence with understanding the impact of emotions on individual performance. Emotional intelligence is an effective workplace competency that can help an individual to show their capabilities as a leader. Self-awareness helps in measuring up the gaps in the workplace competencies and which skills are most in-demand to attain an effective future opportunity.

A high impact of emotional intelligence is visible on professional competencies that can closely work with the identification of relevant gaps in professional opportunities (Serrat, 2017). Professional success is based on professional competencies which can be developed through controlling the emotions and managing personal relationships with effective capabilities and skills. A positive impact of emotional intelligence is identified on the professional competencies that increase self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management. I have learned several concepts in module 4 based on effective professional opportunities to meet leadership skills and enhance emotional intelligence. Perceived emotions and understanding its relevance is a major competency of a professional individual who can control the workplace opportunities (Rodriguez & Rodriguez, 2015; Serrat, 2017).

The Laureate Professional Assessment (LPA) provides highly significant results through self-assessment which provides me with an understanding of my inherited competences and which skills are necessary to develop in the course to attain better outcomes through a positive and professional attitude. My LPA assessment can be seen as below:

It represents my capabilities to adapt to the change in the learning environment and work effectively with others. However, it requires improvement in terms of developing a problem-solving skill, focusing on teamwork, emphasizing on achieving objectives and working in a self-development environment. To meet my professional goals, I need to focus on developing core competencies. Creativity and innovation, problem-solving skills collaboration, effective communication skills, managing personal growth and critical thinking are major professional competencies that can effectively bring positive change in an individual (Pena-Sarrionandia, Mikolajczak & Gross, 2015). I have learned several strategies to work in a diverse environment through my module which concentrates upon speaking clearly and slowly to help others to understand your views and opinions and maintain a normal pitch of volume through simple sentences. It is necessary to control the emotions and focus on active listening with an open mind. Professional competences help in maintaining effective communication in the diverse environment and promoting personalized communication networks to gain knowledge about other cultural background and respect them (Rodriguez & Rodriguez, 2015; Serrat, 2017).

LPA self-assessment test has helped me to evaluate my own strengths and needs of further improvement to meet the professional criteria of success. My major strengths are trustworthiness, patience, dedication, respectfulness, creativity, enthusiasm, focused and positive behaviour. I am able to adapt to the changes easily with effective interaction. It represents the relationship-building skills that can help me in managing other competencies to influence others as a leader and focus on continuous development.

My strengths and weaknesses are effectively-identified through LPA self-assessment test which can be seen as follows:

Table 1: My strengths and weaknesses

Strengths: Working well with others Adaptive to change Dedicated Trustworthy Enthusiastic Positive attitude Respectfulness Creativity Patience FocusedWeaknesses: Critical thinking Achievement of objectives Self-development

It is a fruitful analysis to evaluate one’s own strengths and weaknesses that can be improved with time and suitable action plans. After identifying my weaknesses, I am able to know how to work on these aspects and lead to improvement. My strengths can enhance my innate capabilities to overcome the weaknesses which can promote self-development opportunities.

I think now I am able to grab several opportunities that can help me towards my future goals. VUCA world is an effective tool to promote change in individual behaviour towards professional development. The environment is unpredictable and requires quick changes with the needs-based on specific actions. A positive attitude can help in promoting professional competences required for dealing with the external environment (Rodriguez & Rodriguez, 2015; Serrat, 2017). To manage volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguous world, I will concentrate on overcoming my weaknesses and focus on developing a clear vision to promote a better understanding of the uncertain environment with a clear mind and develop emotional intelligence. Personalized learning plan and SMART goals are needed to be developed by me to enhance my professional skills (Rodriguez & Rodriguez, 2015).
