Task Summary

Research and analyse international management issues and develop a business report in 1350 words (counted from Background/Introduction section to Conclusion section only) which integrates and synthesises key concepts in this subject. These concepts include:

  • cultural intelligence
  • business ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
  • legal and corporate governance, and
  • the cultural nuances of different global economic systems, institutions and business environments.

Please refer to the Task Instructions for details on how to complete this task.

Context

This assessment will provide you an opportunity to reflect on all the learning in this subject. You will integrate and synthesize the content into a business report focused on a multinational company that wants to invest in a newly industrialized or developing country. The company has narrowed their choice to one of two countries with differing business cultures, regulations, economic systems, legal and governance systems, ethical norms and challenges, and developmental priorities requiring CSR support and contribution from the private sector.

The assessment requires you to provide the multinational company with a well-researched business report analysing the characteristics of each country and comparing their cultures, regulations, economic systems, legal and governance systems, and CSR opportunities. The business report will also recommend and justify why one of the two countries is more suitable.

Your facilitator will allocate you into groups for the purpose of this task. It is recommended that the group comprises individuals from different cultural backgrounds as much as possible. Your subject facilitator will then provide each group with the two newly industrialised/developing countries.
