                              Background to this assessmentBackground The most serious long-term challenge for business is to remain relevant in a world where many businesses have contributed to climate change, environmental degradation, inequality and human rights violations. On the other hand, those businesses that are innovative enough to provide solutions to social and environmental problems have an advantage over others. According to Sustainable Business New Zealand: “It should be no surprise that sustainable business is also good business financially. Companies with a strong sustainability track record are typically well-managed. They gain advantages from a good reputation, a strong brand and loyal customers, motivated staff and no environmental liabilities.” However, organisations need to be designed for sustainable innovation. Existing organisations that derive their revenue from depleting the world’s resources need to redesign their strategy as well as their organisational structure.
  
                                                      Assessment task 1Task 1: Infographic Report (Slides) – 80 marks You are a management consultant and have been asked to prepare an infographic report for the management of an organisation that you are familiar with. The focus of your report is to present a redesign of the organisation to improve innovation for social, environmental and financial sustainability. Improving organisational design to make the organisation sustainable require that the organisation be innovative. You should email your facilitator to confirm your chosen company is appropriate. Non-New Zealand companies can be selected but must be confirmed with your facilitator. Some examples of New Zealand companies are listed below: Fonterra Co-operativeThe Warehouse GroupFisher & Paykel HealthcareAir New ZealandZ Energy LimitedSky Network TelevisionMy Food BagComvita LimitedAuckland TransportOr your own choice approved by your facilitator   For your chosen organisation prepare an infographic report of 25 slides (using PowerPoint or similar software) that includes the following:   1.1 Introduction (2 slides) Purpose and content of the report, brief description of the organisation   2.1 Review of the current strategy and organisational design (3 slides) Critically evaluate of the current strategy, objectives and organisational design   Critical evaluation of at least three paradigms, approaches or aspects of an innovative organisation (8 slides)Critically evaluate at least three paradigms, approaches, aspects, or goals of an innovative organisation, which may be incorporated into your proposed design. Focus on designs of organisations to achieve innovation in the areas of social, environmental and financial sustainability. . This may include organising for different types of innovation, more efficient innovation, flexibility or speed of innovation. Provide a brief evaluation of the relationship between strategy and organisational design.You should refer to relevant literature, current reports and analysis, research and theoryThis section should provide a basis for the recommended organisational design in the next section. Not all the analysis in this section needs to be incorporated into your final design.   4.1 Proposed Organisational design (3 slides) o Describe the main features of the proposed design in summary and in detail. Include an infographic or other visual support.
 o You proposed design must include some, all or selected parts of the paradigms, approaches and aspects from section three.   Critical Evaluation of Proposed Organisational design (5 slides)Justify why each aspect of your proposed design was chosen specifically for the selected organisation. Specifically focus on how and where the new design can improve innovation for social, environmental and financial sustainability. You may also justify why some aspects were not chosen. Include consideration of the competitive need for these changes proposed.Critically evaluate the impact of the plan on both the overall value for the organisation and the impact on stakeholders, also the benefits, risks and vulnerabilities of the proposed organisational design for the organisation and its stakeholders.You should refer to relevant literature, current reports and analysis, research and theory 5.1 Summary (1 slide) o Bullet points/infographic of the main sections of the report summarising the current organisational design, the aspects recommended in the report to be changed and the reasons given for these. 6.1 Conclusion (1 slide) Summary of main points of the report and and overall conclusion for the report. 6.1 References (1+ slides) References in APA 7th edition style
General Guidelines: This is an infographic report so you must incorporate diagrams, charts and pictures throughout that provide clear presentation of your analysis and information. These should be enhanced (but not replicated by) concise written and oral explanations.   You should incorporate reference to relevant literature and academic theory where appropriate to support and enhance your analysis and recommendations.Use the report structure and subheadings provided on the page above.Begin each section on a new pageYou must use font of 16pt or largerSlides are landscape slides as per PowerPoint standard sizeReferences must be in APA 7th edition style
      Assessment task 2Task 2: Recorded Presentation of the report – 20 Marks Audio/video recording of a presentation to the management to management of the client company of your chosen organisation. Your final submission will ideally be a single file which includes both your slides and the recorded presentation audio or video. Use Powerpoint, Prezi or other presentation software.
Guidelines:
 Prepare a 10-minute recorded audio/video presentation of the report which includes each section of the report and insert it into your report (can be embedded into PPT, for example).You are aiming for clarity and a convincing pitch to convince the client company how they can redesign their organisation to improve sustainable innovationYou should not aim to add audio/video to every slide, but focus on the main slides to guide readers through the report and allow the client to read other slides in more depth later.   Length: 10 minutes
