Course learning outcomes covered Learning Outcome 1Design a comprehensive organisational model that facilitates innovation
Background to this assessmentBackground The most serious long-term challenge for business is to remain relevant in a world where many businesses have contributed to climate change, environmental degradation, inequality and human rights violations. On the other hand, those businesses that are innovative enough to provide solutions to social and environmental problems have an advantage over others. According to Sustainable Business New Zealand: “It should be no surprise that sustainable business is also good business financially. Companies with a strong sustainability track record are typically well-managed. They gain advantages from a good reputation, a strong brand and loyal customers, motivated staff and no environmental liabilities.” However, organisations need to be designed for sustainable innovation. Existing organisations that derive their revenue from depleting the world’s resources need to redesign their strategy as well as their organisational structure.
