Individual new venture proposal and action plan – 5500 words (excluding table of contents, tables, graphs, figures, pictures, appendices)
Task specific guidance: The module provides you with the opportunity to think about important steps to initiate a new venture or facilitate growth and innovation in an existing venture. The focus is on developing an understanding of business practicalities through action, reflection, and case study. The module encourages you to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for practice, recognising that you may be at different stages and working on different issues at the same time. Your work should be a critically informed by academic research within the field of entrepreneurship as well as primary and secondary data collection and analysis.
Your project narrative (of no more than 5500 words) should have two parts:
In the first part, in about 5000 words, you should explain: Nature of venture: Identify the nature of the venture, that is, initiating a new venture or facilitating growth and innovation in an existing venture. Value proposition: Why would customers select this product/service/idea over competitors? Business model: Your arguments should clearly explain the desirability, feasibility, and economic viability of your business idea. Competitive analysis: You should clearly explain what is your competitive advantage over competitors in your context? Marketing strategy: You should explain how customers would be reached. Also explain customer segmentation if necessary, depending on your chosen venture. Risk analysis: Consideration, explanation, and any possible potential remedial measures of major and relevant business risks is important for your venture. Action plan: You should include an action plan which would lay out the required steps of business development supported by your above analysis. Your analyses should be critically underpinned by academic research and informed by using primary data and secondary sources. Any data collection must be approved by the supervisor and requires completion of an ethics form. Ethics forms are required even if no primary data collection is being conducted. Actual application of your venture: While your venture might be related to a real existing business, please remember, you are not expected to launch this venture as part of this module. This is an academic proposal of a business plan and research. In the second part, in about 500 words you should: Ethics, sustainability, and responsibility: Propose conclusions in terms of key learning points and make recommendations for future business development considering key dimensions of sustainable business activity, responsible managerial/practical behaviour, and socially, morally, and economically acceptable ethical behaviour. Supervision will be provided to enable self-directed learning.
In addition, you are advised to: Seek ongoing support and guidance through the supervision process. Work should be referenced in APA 7th style.
