Submission requirements

You are assessed on your contributions to the online discussion forums.

At the end of the semester, you will submit a document containing one (1) initiating thread and one (1) reply that you made to the post of another student, which you believe best represent your critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills and contribute to the learning of your peers.

This submission will be assessed along with the regularity and quality of your participation in online discussions (posts and replies to other students).

Submit your Task 3 (Peer Learning and Discussion Submission) here before the due date indicated below.

For more information on submitting files, see this Guide to Submitting an Assignment

Date due

The Discussions are divided into three modules and on the date given below these discussions will be locked. After that time you will be able to read your posts and replies and those of your peers, but you will not be able to make any further additions.

Closing dates

Module 1 Discussions close Sunday 30 March 2025 23:59 AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time)

Module 2 Discussions close Sunday 4 May 2025, 23:59 AEST

Module 3 Discussions close Sunday 25 May 2025 23:59 AEST

Please that it is not possible to extend the deadline for the closing for module discussions for individual students, thus requests for extensions for closing dates are unable to be accommodated.

Your submission of a selected post and reply must be made on or before 28 May 2025 23:59 AEST

Use of GenAI

For this assessment task Generative AI use is permitted with acknowledgement. It may be used as a study support to help you to summarise research articles, search for and organise information for your posts.

However, your responses to discussion prompts and to other students need to be your own work and in your own words.

If you are found to have used generative AI to produce the text of posts for weekly discussions and/or the final submission in this assessment, it will constitute an academic breach and will be dealt with according to UTAS policies and procedures: Academic Integrity – Process and FAQ’s

For more information, see our university’s AI information

Rationale
The purpose of the discussions is to explore and share ideas linked to the material being studied that week, and develop skills for other assessment tasks. These peer discussions are used to develop creative thinking and critical skills, broaden perspectives through engagement with the ideas of others and explore a range of problem-solving tasks as prompts for reflection.

You may need to do some research or a practical activity to inform your contributions to discussions, which will broaden your knowledge of the field and its applications, and provide practice in working with others and concise communication of ideas, to support future collaborative and consultative work.

Task Instructions
Contribute constructively to the formal weekly online peer discussions responding to the prompts that are given for each discussion. One of the tutors will moderate the discussions of your assigned group, posting prompts, and providing clarifications or additional prompts as needed.

In the discussions you will explore and share ideas linked to the material being studied that week, engaging with sample scenarios, and workshopping ideas. This will help to develop skills in gathering evidence to support a case, responding to different and challenging ideas. What is required each week may vary – sometimes you may need to do some research, while other weeks it might be a practical creative activity which you will then use to underpin your contribution to the discussion.

At the end of the semester, you will submit a document containing one (1) initiating thread and one (1) reply that you made to the post of another student (include the post you are replying to) which you believe best represent your critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills and contribute to the learning of your peers. This is a simple cut and paste or a screenshot – no editing is permitted.

This submission will be assessed along with the regularity and quality of your participation in online discussions (posts and replies to other students).

Referencing
When you have conducted any research whether from scholarly or non-scholarly sources, and are conveying ideas and opinions of others, even if paraphrased, referencing of sources in APA 7 style is required. You can include a reference list in your discussion post and this in not included in the word count.
