
Brief task description | This assessment is a written reflective piece utilising the Cultural Safety Model. You will be specifically looking at the first and second phase of the model: Cultural awareness and cultural sensitivity. This reflection requires you to identify your own cultural awareness and your understanding of the legitimacy of difference for some communities in accessing health care. |
Rationale for assessment task | It is not only mandated by nursing regulatory authorities that Cultural Safety is included within nursing curriculum, but nurses are also expected to be culturally safe practitioners by AHPRA. For this to occur we are required to understand the Cultural Safety Model and its application. This reflection piece requires the student to be fluent in the Cultural Safety Model. |
