What am I required to do in this assignment? |
You need to produce a PowerPoint project planning presentation for the given Project Mandate You should include a Project Overview that includes the following: Project Objectives, Expected Benefits, Estimated Cost, Estimated Timescale, Major Assumptions & Constraints You should include a Project Plan that includes the following: Communication Plan Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Activity List & Network Diagram with Critical Path identified Risk Register You need to submit a 5 minute video presentation that includes the following: A summary of the key planning related points that are contained within the PowerPoint slides A presentation MUST be submitted by the deadline, along with the PowerPoint slides; no presentation equates to no submission and a mark of 0% would have to be given. |

Refer to the Assessment criteria marking grid, noting what should be produced to achieve Commendation/Distinction level marks. This will be discussed further in class. |
How does this assignment relate to what we are doing in scheduled sessions? |
The class sessions in Week 1 cover Project Definition: The Business Case and Scope Statement for a project, these topics will support what you are required to produce for the Project Overview component of your presentation. The remaining class sessions in Weeks 1 and 2 then include the following Project Design (or Planning) components: Work Breakdown Structures, Activity Lists, Network Analysis & Critical Path and Risk Register, – you will need to use these tools and techniques to produce the remaining slides of your presentation. A session on Presentation Skills and provision of related materials will enable you to develop your presentation skills for the video component of your assessment. A review point will enable you to have feedback on your drafts of your Project Overview and Project Plan presentation materials |
