Due date: Friday 30th May 11:59pm Length: 1,750 words (+/- 10 %) / 5
minutes
Purpose/Learning Objectives:
This assessment relates to Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3, and 4:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in academic literacies, including finding and citing appropriate sources of
information and correctly applying required referencing conventions (CLO 3.2, 4.1)
  2. Communicate effectively in written genres for professional audiences (CLO 3.1)
  3. Performs professional tasks in response to the workplace parameters, direction and guidance
including conforming with workplace related templates and restrictions, within a specific professional
    identity (CLO 5.3)
  4. Analyse and critique research that informs contemporary criminal justice issues to propose an
    evidence-based response within a professional context (CLO 4.2, 4.3)

Task:
Your task is to write a Workplace Report identifying how to address the topic/issue chosen or prevent and/or
reduce a specific form of crime. Focusing on the same topic/issue / form of crime as in your Literature
Review, the Workplace Report will explore what strategies, programs, or policies can be used to prevent or
reduce this crime.

This assignment will allow you to further build your knowledge gained on your chosen topic for assessment
two (2) – the literature review and further build your writing and public speaking / presenting skills. This
workplace report requires you to respond to a particular issue / specific type of crime and/or type of
offending.

This assignment contains two (2) parts:

Part A: Witten Workplace Report

You will research and write a 1 ,750-word workplace report in response to the issue/crime/type of offending
outlined in the literature review task. Part of this task requires you to re-work your submitted literature
review based on the formative feedback received. The workplace report must conform to the template
provided to you and must correctly cite at least ten scholarly sources.
The report importantly must contain (key sections of the report):

  • Executive summary – brief overview of the report, including aim/purpose and the recommendations
    proposed
  • Table of contents
  • Review of the literature relating to the chosen topic (issue/crime/type of offending) – this is the
literature review written for assignment two (2) having been edited based on the feedback from the
second assignment and summarised (if needed) using Gen AI
  • Develop a response to the issue/crime/type of offending
  • Propose a minimum of two (2) – no more than three (3) evidence-based recommendations to better
    address the type of offending.
You will be provided with a template; please follow this. The template is not a guide for the assignment, it is
what needs to be included and how this needs to be formatted/structured. There will be detailed instructions
in the template on what to include in the different sections.

You are encouraged to engage with approximately 15 academic resources for this paper. However, you must
include and correctly cite at least ten scholarly sources. These can include the unit readings where relevant but
should also include a good variety of academic journal articles, reports, conference papers and reputable
websites. There is no limit on the number of sources you may include in this assessment, but all sources must
be correctly cited (APA 7) in-text and a correctly formatted reference list (APA 7) must be provided.

Part B: The Presentation

You will need to record a five (5) minute presentation that outlines the key findings and recommendations
from the workplace report. It is a requirement of this task that you are visible on camera. The presentation
needs to be recorded in PowerPoint and then uploaded via Media Hub. The presentation needs to be
submitted on the same day as your report.

All the information for this task is available to you on the Canvas site, under the Assessment Three (3) tab –
Workplace Report details. The workbook can be downloaded from the Canvas site. Please see and read the
Canvas site full for the full details for this assessment task.

Submission Details:
Please submit your assignment via the Assignment One (1) submission point by 11:59pm on the due date.

Academic Integrity:
You may use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) tools the purpose of understanding this part of the
assessment task and summarising information (summarising your literature review) when cited
appropriately. However, it is your responsibility to critically evaluate the information provided. It is not
acceptable to cut and paste text generated by AI.

You may be asked to demonstrate authorship of your assessment. Find out more on keeping good records to
authenticate authorship. The Academic Integrity Policy describes penalties related to the unauthorised use of
GenAI.
Suggested layout/structure:
You will be provided with the template. You are expected to fill this out, following the guidelines and
instructional text and not create another document.
Presentation/inclusions:
The workplace report should be 1.5 line spaced and in 12-point font.

All assignments submitted in the School of Justice at QUT should include:

A cover page:
Your cover page will include your name, indicating that you are the author of the paper, your student
number, the unite code and the title of the assignment. This is included as part of the workplace report
template.

Statement of Authorship:
You are required to include this in your QUT assignments. This statement indicates that you accept
responsibility for your work and that it is original and free of plagiarism.
