Abstract

The literature review is based on the working of Saga cruises which would allow and demonstrate a better understanding of the concept. It will also explore the parts of the business using data, theories, models followed by discussion which would help in making the reader understand that the company is working well and good. All of the above mentioned points are discussed in the review to help the readers understand the resrecahand the loopholes would alos be mentioned so that the next researched is done.

Introduction

Saga cruises have been popular boutique ships that organize cruise and cultural odysseys to provide an exemplary experience of the beauty of the sea and the water lives. It is one of the first travel companies based in the UK which is mainly two lines of ships, the one being the spirit of discovery and the other one being the spirit of adventure. Both are mentioned and described as a boutique ships because they carry only 999 passengers which are quite small compared to the most forms of modern ocean liners. It is majorly aimed at giving a luxury traveling were the ships that have been mentioned to provide spacious cabins each with its own balcony, including butlers, numerous dining restaurants, and the spas and sundeck. The cruises have been winners of the wave awards and have won it again in 2021. The following literature review would focus on the information collected through various sources and the methodology used is qualitative which would help in accessing information from different sites and proven journals that have been relying on their search and the results obtained are also reliable. Thenoverallresreach has been effective in finding out vital information about the company and its working strategies.

Presentation of data

The cruise business has been in a good state and the leaders of the business are much more confident about the work they have been providing to the people including the service. The data fed from the company stated that the company has been in excellent progress for more than half of the year. The first six months of the operations of the spirit of discovery have been very useful. The feedback of the customer has been positive and the company has now been expecting to have a new ship to achieve their EBITDA which would be more than 20 million pounds in the second half-year. To achieve this, the building of the new one is in progress and expected to be delivered soon (Syriopoulos, Tsatsaronis and Gorila, 2020).

Another data set revealed that the company itself did a survey on the set of 50people and the main purpose was to understand and know the mindset of the people on travel and tourism. The research revealed that spending on a cruise is likely to increase by 47%. About one-third of people responded to it on a positive basis and they were actually planning to spend their money and time in cruising. Therefore, it made up a situation where Saga cruises decided to introduce other ships in their collection and therefore the head of the organization had to initiate the process. The result was however responsible for the step taken (Syriopoulos, Tsatsaronis and Gorila, 2020). The new one would be modernized but the traditional features would remain the same. The ship that world be developed would allow both ex UK and fly-cruises for the people interested in the cruising business. The ship would be built in the block construction in building-dock as it has been bringing deliverables to the Saga cruise since 2019 (Santos, Radicchi and Zagnoli, 2019).

Presentation theories and models

The theory that the company follows is Corporate social responsibility. This theory has been completely followed by the company as it has been acting responsibly towards the environment in a better way. The employees in the organization have been working hard to ensure that the environment is not polluted and that profit can be gained. They make sure that the public is completely satisfied with the service without hampering the expectation of the customers. This is also a way to follow ethics and to do ethical business (Petrick, Markert and Sasangohar, 2020).

Discussion

The Saga cruises have been popular a lot in the travel industry and have been gaining popularity for providing many services to the people cruising with them. As stated by, the cruises have been quite reliable and good for the solo travelers as the ships have a lot of plenty of cabins to stay in. As stated by Pallis et al., 2017, the cruises are quite good and supportive for the people with disabilities as well because such cabins have been made which would make them stay there with support (Pallis et al., 2017).

According to Parisi and Kalafati, 2017, those who love to dress up and have a strong inheritance on the ballroom dancing can be a part of it as well. Further, the ships are designed in such a way that it gives the ability to the customers to enjoy a lot of things (Parisi and Kalafati, 2017). It has expanded the dining choices with restaurants, a full-size west-end theater, and even the spa, gym, and fitness facilities (Paiano, Crovella and Lagioia, 2020).

As stated by MacNeill and Wozniak, 2018, another reason for reliability is the ability of the ship in offering future-proofing as the older ships are more costly to run. The new formulations allow the reduction in maintenance, It complies with the latest regulations and therefore it is meant to be more cleaner towards the environment. There have been many approaches by the makers of the saga cruises in which they have tried enough to reduce the expenses and have been able to work with efficiency and clarity (MacNeill and Wozniak, 2018). As stated by Paiano, Crovella and Lagioia, 2020 the saga cruises work on reducing the carbon footprint by reduction of the usage of the fuel. Therefore in terms of efficiency, the hull design in the ship is optimized in such a way that it comes on a modal speed that goes up to 16 knots (Paiano, Crovella and Lagioia, 2020). It is well known that the company has been working closely with the naval architect for ships on the hull side which would help the company do basic designs so that the responsibility towards the environment can be done. Their shipyards themselves have highly skilled naval architects that have been helping in developing the design (Lopez Rodriguez et al., 2021).

As stated by Ahn, Shamim and Park, 2021, for this inclusion of pods in the ships would be providing better flow in the propeller and would help in the reduction of the number of the appendages and the effects on it on the hull. It is very clean in comparison with the conventional form of shafted and rudder arrangements. This way the efficiency of the hull is increased (Ahn, Shamim and Park, 2021).

As stated by Di Vaio et al., cruise sustainability is also important as it helps in managing and proceeding with the materials that would highly make the environment healthy without disturbing the resources and the service provided to the customers. In this concern, the cruise has been able to reduce the use of plastic and instead has been able to use the materials made of steel and other metals which would help in the reduction of the plastic waste accumulation in the ocean. This means that guests on these ships might see metal utensils, dispensers instead of small toiletry bottles, and stricter food packaging requirements (Di Vaio et al., 2020).

The advanced form of the hull would be helpful in controlling the waste that would be done using the fuel in the oceans. The use of less fuel would help in the reduction of the fuel waste in the ocean.

While doing the research and verifying facts from various literature sources, it was understood that the cruises can use netter and efficient things which would help in the reduction of the pollution in the ocean. Liquified natural gas technologies and the use of biofuels would greatly work in lowering the fuel use and would also reduce the dependency on the fossil fuels. It would also make the cruises more efficient and the many ships would be benefited from it. Even the ships can use the shore-based electricity when they are in port to help in the reduction of the use of fossil fuels (Ignaccolo et al., 2020). The sewage and the fuel disposal is also necessary and they should not be done in the sea itself. Therefore,it is essential for the company to hire responsible environmental officers to have a complete idea of the environmental hazards and they must be efficient enough to carry on the experimentation of recycling and reuse within the ships (Holland et al., 2021).

Dealing with the customers is also essential as the target customer group gor Saga cruise are those who are older in age and are about 50 years of age. Ensuring reliability and making changes as per their need is also essential (Jones, Comfort and Hillier, 2016).

Saga cruises have been trying efficiently to work on the improvement of its ships after the results obtained from the feedback. Therefore it is important for the company to follow the rise and regulation and comply with it. The development must be done in the same way following the models of ethics which would help the company flourish more with the advent of time.
