PART A. Construct a Project Plan

Worth 5% | Due Friday 17th February Week 5 by 7pm | Word limit for Part A is 800 maximum

A project plan ensures all stakeholders share the same vision, sets measurable goals for your project and documents expectations of each members contribution. It establishes solid communication among team members, and serves as the foundation for project transparency. The project plan is a document that describes how the project will be executed, monitored, and controlled, and delivered. An excel spreadsheet may be included with a schedule or a task list, with assigned responsibilities etc.

How to create a project plan outline

Main components of the project management plan.

At its basic level, an example of a project plan consists of creating a list of all these components to help inform your project management plan. What are the things your team will need to do to get the project done? Activities in your project plan include things like:

  • Hold a kickoff meeting get to know your team and their commitments. Discuss and document how you are going to keep them accountable. CATME Peer assessment will be set up for you to report on team member contribution. This will help us identify non- contributing team members.
  • Define Project scope and timeline (met submission deadlines, penalties incurred for late submission)
  • Create a project schedule – measure progress. Gantt chart
  • Delegating tasks – define roles and responsibilities
  • Allocating resources – identify resources and set and prioritise goals
  • Time tracking spent on project tasks Define deliverables
  • Communicating effectively (Which platform is your team going to utilise, Messenger group, Microsoft teams etc)

PART B. Preliminary Client Analysis

Worth 10% | Due Friday 10th March Week 8 by 7pm | Word limit for Part B is 2,600.

This should include the following items:

  1. Flowchart of your family client’s profile
  2. Goals & Objectives (explicit and implicit): Determine your client’s short (less than 12 months) medium (between two and five years) and long-term goals (more than five years including retirement). You should have a minimum of four to five goals in each category. This is the major focus that forms the basis of your plan. Ascertain your client’s lifestyle choices to demonstrate you know them well to be able to tailor specific advice to the circumstances you have constructed for your client. Questions like what type of education would you like for your children, ie. private or public. What type of leisure activities does the family undertake? The frequency, duration and location of family holidays etc. How much you would like to retire on. What age you want to retire at.

You are required to quantify these goals, that is, you should assign a dollar figure to them.

  • Risk profile: Prepare a risk profile for your client that questions their attitude to risk and investment experience which is assumed to be limited. Fill in the questionnaire as if the client has answered the questions. You will use this to determine the advice you give to match the clients risk profile and financial education level. Determine appropriate types of investments that would suit your client’s profile for example owning property, listed shares, artwork, managed funds etc. It is possible that your client is not familiar with investing at all so will be reliant on your guidance.
  • Client’s Current Financial Situation
    • Cash Flow Statement
    • Balance Sheet
    • Ratios
    • Tax calculations including Medicare levy and Medicare levy surcharge where applicable.
  • Identifiable current issues

PART C. Construct a Comprehensive Statement of Advice (SOA)

Worth 25% | Due Monday 14th April Week 5 by 7pm | Word limit for Part C is 2,600. All group members must contribute to PART C. PART C should subsume Part B.

Your client feels they need to take control of their finances. They have therefore decided that they need a formal financial plan to achieve their financial goals and have approached you, as a team, to create such a plan for them.

You will need to ensure that all aspects of a financial plan are included:

  • Budgeting and tax planning
  • Liquidity management
  • Personal financing
  • Personal investing
  • Wealth protection

All aspects of course material that is relevant to your client’s scenario should be covered and tailored to address to their specific circumstances. Implementation and evaluation of the financial plan will also need to be explicitly considered. You are allowed to make assumptions where you feel there is incomplete or inadequate information, but please demonstrate the rationale behind your assumptions.

You are also required to provide a financial services guide (FSG) containing all the compulsory information disclosure required by the Corporations Act.

NOTE: AN ELECTRONIC COPY MUST BE SUBMITTED BY ONE TEAM MEMBER VIA THE ILEARN SUBMISSION BOX.
