Aims
This project aims mainly to study the use and fate of two plastics, PP and PET in the environment. The literature review will highlight the manufacture, use, management and disposal of PP and PET. Additionally, this research project aims to identify how PP and PET get into the environment in a non-regulated way will be assessed and new management practices if available, will be assessed for their potential to limit environmental harms.
Objectives
Data will be extracted and analyzed from the existing research on PP and PET related to:
- The extensive use of PP and PET plastics in various sectors
- Steps involved in the different manufacturing methods of PP and PET
- Management and disposal methods of PP and PET plastics to identify the sustainability and find out the drawback of each disposal method.
- Assessment of how PP & PET get into the environment in a non-regulated way. New management practices will be assessed for their potential to limit environmental harms, if available.
Methodology
With the purpose of achieving the proposed aims and objectives, a literature review will be performed, and theoretical investigations will be carried out. Firstly, an analysis will be carried out about the extensive use of PP and PET plastics in various sectors like construction, food preservation etc. Different manufacturing methods and steps involved in each method will be reviewed in order to understand the advantages, disadvantages and limitations of each method to understand the negative impact of each method on the environment. An investigation regarding the management and disposal methods of PP and PET plastics will be performed to determine the sustainability and understand the drawback of each disposal method .This will help to recognize the best effective method for disposal which will limit the social and economic impact.

Literature review: • Provide generic overview of the area of your research followed by more detailed focal review of the ‘target’ question. • Split by: Themes, Timeline, Research Questions, Objectives, etc. Is: a critical evaluation of knowledge relevance. Is NOT: a summary. Is NOT: an annotated bibliography. • Summary that demonstrated the Gap in Knowledge • Chronological: knowledge development over time, • Thematic: reoccurring themes or sub-themes • Methodological: assessment of approaches • Qualitative vs quantitative research • Empirical vs theoretical scholarship • Divide the research by sociological, historical, or cultural sources • Theoretical: discussion of theories, models, concepts. • Clearly define what knowledge has been gathered? what is the ‘gap’ in knowledge? how your work will improve / solve the problem?Methodology • How it is done?! • Justified method of HOW objectives are achieved: • Primary, Secondary • Experimental, Theoretical • Qualitative, Quantitative • What resources will be utilized? • Software, Hardware, Experimental Equipment, Contacts, Companies, Surveys, Materials, etc
