Introduction

  • Energy maintenance provides sustainable development
  • Aim is to understand energy consumption importance
  • Objectives include analysing energy control, consumption level
  • Advantage of renewable resource
  • Challenges of energy consumption

Energy maintenance achieved by can help to achieve sustainable development goals. It develops a healthy environment and minimises energy wastage. It also helps to control the pollution. The aim of the research is to understand the importance of energy consumption and control the consumption levels. The objective of the study includes analysing energy controlling ways and reducing consumption, evaluation of the advantage of renewable resources, and to address the challenges faced during energy consumption.

Literature review

Importance of controlling the energy consumption

The purpose of this dissertation’s literature review part is to pique readers’ interest in the significance of and strategies for managing energy use (Shahbaz et al., 2019). Smart houses, on the other hand, provide their owners control over energy consumption or the option to use less conventional energy. This approach to managing energy use provides smart home owners with a number of fast ways to reduce the size of their electricity bills. The benefits of preserving conventional energy are explained here, along with its significance.

Processes of controlling energy

Water leak and water freezing smart detector

Installing intelligent water leak detectors would make the house appear to be a smart home. The second and most important advantage of using this type of detector in homes is that it is very effective at reducing family usage because it can quickly identify issues (Ragazzon and Prins, 2018).

Solar heater

Solar energy can be used year-round to warm the water. The solar panel, which can be mounted on the roof or hung from a wall, is likewise required for the solar heating system to work. The generated power immediately warms the water. This water can also be kept in a cylinder and used later to heat water.

Theoretical underpinning

The IAT sensor model helps to examine how effectively an energy-efficient home manages its consumption. Intelligence Awareness Target Sensor is referred to as IAT sensor. The sensory elements of the devices are used to collect fundamental data using a theory or model called Sensor IAT. A smart home needs a variety of sensors to recognise the indoor environment. In addition, a numerical value based on the status of the environment is shown by this sensor. A smart home with stationary sensor boards scattered throughout is shown in Figure 1. Sensors are attached to the board to track the location of the smart house at any given time. Three sensors—the rotary, sound, and motion sensors—are employed in this process to collect data (GROSU et al., 2022).

Literature gap

The literature gap part of the literature review chapter’s major goal is to describe in detail the gaps left by earlier researchers on a related issue in the literature section of the dissertation. The theoretical background portion has been observed to be occasionally underemphasized in the literature review chapters of other researchers. They have only given the names of the theories that can be utilised as the theories of energy management systems, rather than actually analysing the particular problem using a particular model or theory. The fact that managing energy usage presents some difficulties is another gap in the research. However, there was no real information accessible about this.

Methodology

  • Positivist philosophy
  • Descriptive approach, deductive design
  • Secondary data collection method
  • Data has been collected form 10 Journals

The methods used by the researcher are highlighted in this section. The author has made use of the positivism philosophy in order to collect the data and and determine objectives on the basis. The deductive approach is used by the researcher to collect reasonable facts. It will help to validate accurate data explanations. The descriptive research design has been selected in order to develop a proper study structure and design of the complete research. Secondary data collection method has been selected. And data has been collected from ten journals.

Solar blackout shades

  • Trap heat
  • Operated with solar energy
  • Controlled with remote or smartphones applications

Solar blackout shades are prominent in tiny homes majorly. These have been widely installed as a smart home feature as well. It helps to trap the heat generated inside and prevents the loss of temperature. It provides an insulating effect within the house. These blinds are generally operated with the help of energy derived from solar panels. The use of energy efficient energy reduces the pressure on electricity bills. They can be remotely operated with the help of remotes or smartphones with the help of intelligent control systems

Light automation

  • Remotely controlled with smartphones
  • Switched off when room is empty
  • Brightness adjustment
  • Requires high maintenance

The light system is operated by a remote controlling system. The lights are switched off automatically with the help of a pre-set timer. Certain light automation systems switch off lights when they detect the absence of humans in a room. The lighting system can reduce the light in a room according to the requirements with the help of sensors. It can be controlled from smartphones like any smart gadget. Negative aspect lies in the fact that it requires maintenance and the wireless system may not be highly reliable.

Smart energy management Systems

  • Energy optimisation
  • Uses solar Photovoltaic system
  • Load division amongst heavy load machines
  • Operated with radio controlled sockets

Smart Energy Management system optimises the energy consumption of multiple devices in a smart home. They are operated with the help of a Solar Photovoltaic system. The solar energy is divided according to the load of the machines to be operated by the system. The energy that is being used can be evaluated. Since it operates on the energy of the sun, it is required to store energy on days when solar power cannot be generated. . the systems can be operated with radio control systems

Energy monitoring

  • Effective analysation of consumption level
  • The system is connected with all appliances
  • Appliances shutdown by system when required
  • Accurate and real-time information about consumption level

It is required that the energy being consumed by various smart gadgets are monitored. This system will help in the effective analysation of the energy consumption of a smart home. Accurate and real-time information about consumption level are obtained. The system will be connected with the appliances in the house to analyse their consumption level. Any form of device malfunctioning will be noticed by the monitoring system. It controls the appliances by shutting them off when it becomes necessary.

Smart ventilation

  • Operates when carbon dioxide increase is detected
  • Increases outflow of sir to balance humidity
  • Sensors detect room occupancy, real-time detection
  • Optimal energy utilisation.

Smart ventilation system becomes operative when the increase in carbon dioxide present in a room is detected. Outside inflow of air is increased to balance the humidity and temperature. The system reduces operation when the sensors detect that the occupancy of the room has reduced. The system reduces its operations when it detects the absence of humans in a room. This leads to the optimised use of the system and manages energy consumption. Change is detected on a real-time basis.

Discussion

  • Smart devices helps energy consumption
  • Application of AI based Systems
  • Optimised energy division

Smart devices make a house modern in terms of energy consumption. The installation of sensors makes them effective as smart devices. The appliances become smart with the use of AI in the sensor systems. The sensors attached in the light automation systems help make the automation possible. Blackout blinds help to reduce the loss of heat and provide an insulating effect to homes. Smart energy management systems work on solar panels. It helps to reuse renewable energy and it optimises the usage by energy division load wise.

Conclusion

The information and elements that were used in the research are all summarised in this chapter. Before introducing the topic to the readers, the researcher gave background information and outlined the study’s goal and objective in the first chapter. It also featured the problem statement, which described the issues and provided supporting evidence, such as the goal of the study. A full explanation of the study’s overall structure has also been provided.
