You have been employed by the Department of Workplace Health and Safety to conduct an independent safety audit of Dreamworld, with particular focus on Guest Safety.  The main areas you are to investigate include rides and attractions, food and beverage and wildlife.  Following your site visit, present a written report to the manager of Dreamworld.

ALTERNATIVE TASK   If you did not attend the site visit to Dreamworld:

1. Select another tourist attraction or business to conduct a safety audit.

• Using the headings from the Dreamworld report, develop a set of questions to ask the manager of your chosen tourism attraction/organization.  The questions should be aimed at developing knowledge of the workplace health and safety policies and procedures within the organization as well as the hazards faced by employees and guests/clients, and the measures that the business has taken to minimize the risks.

• Show your teacher the set of questions before going out to the organization.

• Take notes and collect any documents that will support your report.

• Using similar headings to that for Dreamworld, write your findings up in a report.
