Purpose of the Research Article Companion: 

This companion is meant to help support your reading and prepare you to engage meaningfully with your group. You will submit your Article Review Companion as an individual assignment that will be scored for completion, but you will not receive feedback from your tutor.  You are free to submit a copy before your group discussion and an updated version after your group discussion (This submission is worth 10% of your module mark)

Assignment Instructions: 

1. Review the article you have been allocated or have selected from the topic your group has selected.  
2. This document does not have suggested word counts. Write as much as you need to analyze the case and be prepared for your group discussion. 
3. In Part 1, respond to the questions in section to support your review and analysis. 
4. When you complete this document, upload the file on the Canvas Assignment page.
5. Complete your assignment before your group meeting and have it on hand while you meet. 

Part 1: Research Article Review 

Description of the group assignment: 

In part 1 of coursework 1, students will be assigned academic articles to be discussed in groups of between 4-5 students. Each student is required to review an article from the topic selected by their group. In preparing for the group discussion, each student is expected to research around their core article; it is recommended they refer to about 5-8 other academic journals, case studies and textbooks and come to the assessed session prepared to demonstrate academic rigour in their contribution to the group discussion. Each group is required to submit a recorded video of the discussion. You will be trained how to record the discussion via Zoom.

Although this is a group discussion each student will receive an individual mark. The individual report (formative is worth 10%) and the group discussion is 20% hence this first part of coursework 1 is worth 30% of the total module mark.  See the module canvas for the last date for uploading your assignments.

Please work closely with the module team to ensure you are well prepared for this task.  Group discussion rehearsal sessions are available via AEB classes.
