TASK
This assignment requires you to critically compare and contrast the relevance of each livestock industry in the global context, including production and market contexts.
For the purposes of this assignment, you will research the following livestock industries:
• Dairy production (cows, sheep and goats)
• Meat production (beef, sheep meat and venison)
• Fibre production (wool)
- For each industry, you will:
a) Research the production volumes and the range of products produced by New Zealand livestock industries since 2007. Identify past and future trends in livestock production.
b) Analyse the New Zealand production output against global production and explain its relevance in a global context.
c) Identify the major international markets for New Zealand dairy, meat and fibre production. Analyse the current international markets and future market opportunities.
d) Investigate the systems and key industry organisations involved in the processing, distribution and marketing of New Zealand’s livestock production to international markets.
e) Research the key challenges in international markets facing New Zealand livestock industry producers. Discuss the implications of these challenges for New Zealand producers. - Once you have researched and analysed the five areas detailed above for each livestock industry, you will critically compare and contrast the significance, markets, systems and challenges for New Zealand dairy, meat and fibre production in a global production and market context.
