Robotics Engineering

What is it all about?

There are many branches of engineering and robotics engineering is one of them. In today’s world, as our technologies are growing day by day, this engineering is very vital. Now industry after industry is being influenced by the use of robots and the stipulation of engineers who know about it nicely or can design, build, operate and use robots can wing its way. So Robotics is an integrative or transdisciplinary branch of computer science and engineering.  The Main aspect to design robots is to make machines that can lend a hand to humans. Robotics is a branch that merges many fields like Electrical engineering, electronics, control engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, bioengineering, computer engineering, software engineering, mathematics, and many more.

So, Robotics is a branch that makes machines that can replace humans and can also make a replica of human actions.  Nowadays, Robots are made so that they can be used in many situations like in many dangerous situations for checking radioactive materials or in bomb spotting and demilitarize it, in shipwrecks, in funding survivors in unsteady decay and also in building processes where people cannot survive. So robots can flourish in any structure and moreover some are made to be similar to humans coming into view. There are many kinds of robots. Some of them need user input so that it work while some robots function independently. Throughout history, many engineers, inventors and technicians have pre assumed that one day will come where robots will be able to imitate human’s way of behaving and also will carry on duties in a secular fashion.

Admission and placements

The applicant who wants to take admission in robotics engineering should have nice understanding in science and mathematics and should fulfill some conventions. They should be brilliant and also should pass class 12 with physics, chemistry and mathematics. The candidates can also pursue diploma, bachelors and masters courses in this field. Diploma in robotics has a duration of four years.  Bachelor of technology in robotics engineering and bachelor of engineering in robotics also takes a duration of four years. Masters of technology and robotics engineering,  master of technology and automation and robotics,  masters of engineering and robotics engineering has a duration of two years. Candidates who take admission in robotics engineering should have a deep knowledge in the areas of robotics engineering by covering Electromechanics,  robotics,  sensors, instrumentation and many more.

After completion of  the degree course in this branch, a student can get jobs in manufacturing, research and maintenance of nuclear power plants and in many other areas. They can seize a job in humanoid robot programming, in healthcare management and maintenance and in construction development also. As the advancement of technology is increasing in robotics, so in many other fields it is also used such as in power plant maintenance, automobile industry, space exploration, petroleum exploding places and so on. Many job opportunities are there for robotics engineers both in India as well as abroad.  Candidates with a degree in robotics can get job opportunities in Space Research organisations and also in factories which make microchips. They can also work in robot manufacturers. There are also many more jobs for the robotics engineers as they can build robots for various industries such as applications and electronics building food packaging. Some can also choose teaching in various government and private universities.

What do they actually do?

Like other branches of engineering, robotics engineering requires the potentiality to be expert in a diversity of technical regions. They spend most of the time designing the schemes and procedures which are needed  not only to make robots but also to see that they are designed to become successful or not. Before making a robot engineers first determine exactly for what purpose the robot is being made. So with the help of 3D CAD ( Computer Aided Design ) tools they create designs which allow them to design right down to the circuit level. Then they  actually built the robot with the help of Computer aided manufacturing tools.

A lot of time is taken in the building process which are highly technical and is tough to create. The day to day duties of a robotics engineer includes building, configuring and testing tools. They also design software systems so that it can control the robotic system. This is Singh when robots are used for designing automated robotic systems then the production and the precision levels will increase depending upon a particular industry. As talked about before, many of the robotics engineers take time to design a robot and also they take care about whether they are working efficiently or not. The first step to designing a robot is a mechanical design which gives the robot the ability to be significant and has accurate or exact movement. The second step is the electronics which brings the robot with the powerful corporal ability to life or to the world by using cutting-edge circuitry. This step is followed by coding where programs are written to instruct the robot so that they can operate by themselves. After this step now it is working with the internet of things which will authorize the robots so that it can communicate with each other.

Advantage and Disadvantages

Robotics is such a branch that helps a candidate to so his or her inventiveness

to the world. Rather than this it also helps the candidate to check his or her concept from time to time by executing them practically. The best thing about robotics is that with the efforts of many people and their skills, great work is done so robotics has a lot of teamwork. If after making a robot, a robot does not work according to the expectations of the people who have created it then the hardest part is to find out for what reason and for which part the robot is not working. A lot of brainstorming is needed to recover some problems and sometimes the engineers may have to start from the zero level.

We know that everything has both advantages and disadvantages. Similarly, electrical engineering also has some challenges or disadvantages. Robotics engineering has a vast syllabus and the implementation is also hard. It needs a hard struggle to overcome. So if a student is confident that he or she can overcome these challenges then it’s better for him to move ahead.
