COURSE: BACHELOR OF ACCOUNTING
UNIT: ICT 201 BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS
ASSESSMENT TASK: ASSIGNMENT 2
ASSESSMENT MARKS: 30%
DUE DATE: Week 12
ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS
The second assignment provides an opportunity to applied knowledge of the concept of data and information and business information systems for the purpose of strategic and operational management of Kimball, a case study.
You are a management consultant who have been approached by Tyler (Kimball Restaurant) to propose the use of a management performance dashboard for managing the restaurant business. Tyler has in mind that the top level of the dashboard will address most of the issues that have cropped up in the previous discussions (past tutorials) and a second level that can be drilled down from the top level. In a nutshell the dashboard should tell the management is the restaurant is doing well and if not, by drilling down, where are the problems. Tyler also hopes that the dashboard can help them manage operational and strategically, in a sense not just managing the current but the future as well.
ASSESSMENT TASK
Design a 2-level performance dashboard for Kimball Restaurant based on their business model and data systems. Present to them the dashboard design and elaborate on the benefits what the dashboard will provide. Prepare supporting information in how measures presented can be supported by different information sources. The presentation by power-point should not exceed 15 minutes with additional time for Q&A. Back-up slides should be prepared for a Q&A session with Kimball management.
You are to conduct a comprehensive study on the Kimball Restaurant case study via past tutorials to understand Kimball pain point, business initiatives and information systems. Where measures cannot be supported by current internal information but deemed critical, substantiate the use of the measure and how can the information be sourced.

Marking rubric
A grade will be awarded to each of the component and then an overall mark determined for the entire assessment task. The rubric below gives you an idea of what you must achieve to earn a certain ‘grade’. As a general rule, to meet a ‘credit’, you must first satisfy the requirements of a ‘pass’. And for a High distinction, you must first satisfy the requirements of a ‘distinction’, which must of course first meet the requirements of a ‘credit’, and so on. Your final grade will be decided based on the grades for each component in the assessment. It is not a simple average but rather, a final consideration of how you performed as a whole informed by the grades of each component.
