Task detail | Sally is a Registered Nurse who works on a Medical Ward in a large metropolitan hospital. Sally’s colleagues have noticed that at the end of several shifts the patients in Sally’s care have appeared uncared for and that wet bed sheets have not been changed. They have also noticed that Sally has been spending a lot of time at the nurses’ station, while the patients allocated to her care have been unattended. Her colleagues also recently overheard her at the Nurse’s Station making a comment about Mr Smith who has stroke related cognitive impairment. Her comment “ I don’t know why his family are upset about me not changing his continence aid – he doesn’t even know if he is wet. He has got no idea about what’s going on” Using the above case study as context and using relevant scholarly references to support your discussion, write a 1500 word essay (+/- 10%). Do not use headings. Structure your essay as follows: Introduction: (150 words) (+/- 10%). Include a thesis statement Section A: (600 words) (+/- 10%). What is Cultural Safety and discuss why culture is not just about ethnicity and how is it relevant to the case study. Applied to this case study, how is Sally demonstrating the use of interpersonal power and how does this impact on the provision of culturally safe care. Section B: (300 words) (+/- 10%). Discuss Sally’s practice in this case study: Is Sally meeting the NMBA standards in applying person-centred and evidence-based care for the delivery of safe and quality care?Does the evidence in the case study lead you to believe that Sally has formed therapeutic, person-centred relationships with her patients?How could she do so, and what would be the benefits of Sally doing so?
