Instructions to Students:

You need to develop three (3) resource plans for this assessment task.  

For those who do not have access to a workplace at this time, use the scenario provided in Appendix A to complete this assessment task.  You will also need to refer to the Righteous Bean policies and procedures in Appendix C to complete this task.

Step 1: Decide on Project

For students completing this Assessment using the simulated environment “Righteous Bean”:

  • Read the Scenario in Appendix A
  • Find two (2) classmates, friends or family members who will play the role of your stakeholders for this consultation.

Step 2: Preparation for observation

You are required to organise the resources needed for this assessment task, including:

  • A group of a minimum of two other participants who can participate in the simulated meeting. 
  • An appropriate method for collaboration with others, for example: in class, recording a face to face meeting or by using video conferencing such as GoToMeeting, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet or Zoom.

You will need to:

  • make the meeting arrangements by:
  • organising a suitable time for the meeting. 
  • inviting participants to the meeting.
  • organising the meeting through the appropriate method such as Zoom. 
  • providing participants with background information, including the purpose of the meeting and scenario details
  • Review and prepare for the meeting.

Instructions to stakeholders:

  • Participate in the consultation meeting by giving suggestions to enhance the three (3) plans.
  • Be positive and supportive to the student.
  • Ask the student meaningful questions.
  • Answer any questions the student asks you.

Step 3: Conduct the meeting

  • In the meeting with the two (2) stakeholders, you need to cover the following points:
  • What are the objectives for this project and the Resource Plans?
  • What are the deliverables for these Resource Plans?
  • What are the types and numbers of human resources needed?
  • Does the business already have any of the required human resources?
  • How would we acquire appropriate human resources – what would that process involve?
  • What are the types and levels of materials and equipment needed?
  • Does the business already have any of the required material and equipment resources?
  • How would we acquire appropriate material and equipment resources – what would that process involve?
  • What are the types of technology resources needed?
  • Does the business already have any of the required technology resources?  How can these be shared with this project?
  • How would we acquire appropriate technology resources – what would that process involve?

During the meeting, you will:

  • Participate in verbal discussions by:
  • Exchanging ideas
  • Asking open and closed questions to elicit information from others
  • Listen without interrupting
  • Use persuasive communication skills to articulate ideas and requirements

Step 4: Notes from meeting

Document the notes from your meeting.  You can use the template found in Appendix B.  Upload your notes using the Assessment 2 Submission Sheet.

Step 4: Video Recording

Upload the video recording of your meeting to Connect.

Part B: Resource Plans

Once you have completed your consultation and other research, complete your Resource Plans using the template found in Appendix B.

Part C: Gaining Approval

Compose an email to the CEO of Righteous Bean which:

  • Introduces the Resource Plans you have developed
  • Provides a summary of what they contain
  • Describes the organisational policy you have utilised in developing your Resource Plans and how you have complied with that policy
  • Requests approval for the Resource Plans

Appendix A – Scenario

Scenario
You have been asked by the owner of The Righteous Bean to manage resources for their next project.   Righteous Bean is a Brisbane based café that was established in 2009 and quickly developed a reputation for providing high quality ‘gourmet’ food and beverages.  The café has experienced a great deal of success due to the growing demand for their gourmet product and high-quality service combination.  The owner-operators pride themselves on delivering a superior food and customer service combination.  Their values include supporting the local community, delivering quality customer service, offering healthy options and selling high-quality food and beverages. In October 2021, after developing a successful single-site business in the northside of Brisbane, the owners of Righteous Bean have decided to expand their business across Brisbane.  The short-term plan is to open a new site at Manly on the southside of each Brisbane within the next 12 months. Their first step was to hire you to develop three resource plans to enable the opening of the new café.  You have been asked to develop: Human Resources PlanEquipment and Materials Resources PlanTechnology Resources Plan.
