Procedure
Choose one of the following topics for your essay and discuss:
Remote and flexible working in the pandemic impacts employee productivity and has economic consequences for the organisation.
Workforce diversity matters in managing the future of work.
The gig economy will not create a new underclass of workers because ongoing and fixed-term employees will continue to be vital for organisations.
Evaluate the concept of ‘The Future of Work’ concerning the opportunities and challenges that new disruptive technologies pose for employees and organisations.
Your essay should include the following information:
Introduction: (200 words)
Outline and state your position
Outline the significance of the issue to Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM)
Discussion: (use headings and subheadings)(1600 words)
Critically evaluate the issue, using Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) concepts and theories, multiple perspectives and contemporary trends.
Explain your key points and argue your position.
Justify your position based on your critical analysis and supported with relevant evidence and sources.
Conclusion: (200 words)
Restate your position.
Summarise the main points.
Your work should discuss and appraise the findings from your study and research, and in doing so, should provide analysis that is relevant to the chosen statement or question posed from the list of topics above. Your style should be analytical, interpretative, and informative. The content should be focused, relevant to the question and clearly structured.
Use diagrams and brief tables if appropriate, to illustrate points and to support your arguments. Ensure that these are relevant, based on your research, and that their relevance and significance to your argument is clear.
After drafting your response, check it against the marking criteria for this task (refer to the marking rubric). Make sure it is free of errors and submit it for marking by the due date.

Note: All written assessments should be submitted as Word files (.docx) (Word is available from your AIB Office 365 account).
The required word length for this assessment is 2000 words (plus or minus 10% tolerance).
You are required to follow an Essay format in terms of structure, presentation and style.
The list of references is not included in the word count of the paper.
Your grade will be adversely affected if your assessment does not acknowledge the sources of information you have used, and if your assessment is beyond the allowed tolerance level. Refer to the Assessment Policy available on the AIB website for details.
You need to acknowledge sources of facts appropriately. Use a minimum of six (6) academic references to support your arguments. You need to use credible sources such as journal articles, textbooks, government and/or industry reports, online business magazine or newspaper articles, business-related opinion pieces, company websites and so on.
