Aim: The aim of this poster is to develop your ability to educate your colleagues about evidence-based practice related to the management of high acuity clients, including prevention of complications, deterioration and client education. The poster is to be developed as a teaching tool for your colleagues.
This assignment addresses Course Learning Outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- Evaluate and communicate research findings related to the nursing management of the high acuity client.
- Apply assessment skills and knowledge of high acuity patients to prioritise care.
- Apply critical thinking and clinical judgement to explain pathophysiological and psychosocial processes and their outcomes in relation to high acuity clients.
- Critically evaluate the legal, ethical, political and technological issues that affect high acuity clients.
Task description:
For this task you need to create a one-sided A4 electronic poster that could be used to educate your colleagues about the management of high acuity clients. Your poster should be informed by at least EIGHT (8) current scholarly sources.
In your poster, you need to:
- introduce your high acuity client group
- identify potential complications based on current scholarly evidence
- summarise management and include assessment, and any legal, ethical, political, and/or technical issues or considerations
- propose client education that would reduce the risk of deterioration and/or complications
- conclude with a summary of the importance of management of care to reduce deterioration and complications
How to construct your poster
You may construct your poster using Publisher (on the uni web site) OR on MS Word OR Powerpoint
Create your A4 poster and reference list (on a separate page), save them as one PDF file and submit via Turnitin on the course L@G site.
You might choose to structure your poster in these sections:
Title: Clear, specific and be at the top of the poster. Student name (without student numbers) are immediately below the title, in small font.
Body of the poster: Your key points and illustrations. Use illustrations, graphs, and pictures to illustrate key points and to capture the reader’s interest. All key points, illustrations, graphs and pictures should be referenced.
Conclusion / Summary: (Take home message)

- Use APA 6th edition referencing style.
- Ensure that you use 8 or more scholarly literature (digitised readings, research articles, relevant Government reports and text books) that has been published within the last five years, two to three seminal works may be used.
