Pre-Construction and Mobilisation Plan
Assessment 4 – Modern Construction Projects
Pre-Construction and Mobilisation Plan
Template for Student Use (delete all red letters before submitting to Turnitin)
In your own words, write a clear pre-construction planning and implementation strategy for a fictitious project. Create a document based on the template – a minimum 2,000 of your own words – for the five areas listed:
- Quality
- Multi-Factor Productivity
- Material Logistics
- Sustainability
- Demolition and Reuse
The project is worth AUD 100 million.
See and use the template below for each area above to create a beginning planning and implementation strategy.
The template below is a starting point. You may add or subtract from it.
For realism – please choose from one of the project types:
1) A multi-storey residential,
2) A multi-storey commercial building
3) A processing facility such as manufacturing or port construction
4) An infrastructure project such as a bridge, interstate highway or electrical transmission line
Use research literature and industry reference material as you see fit. For example, see SCOPUS at vUWS Library and Assessment 1 journal articles and Assessment 2 case studies. Tutorial Recordings, PODS. AIB Articles and Leaning Modules 1-13 on vUWS.
Again, this is a fictional project. We are more interested in applying what you have learned. Tell us how you would effectively plan, execute and measure this large project.
DO NOT USE QUESTIONS POSED IN THIS TEMPLATE AS PART OF YOUR WRITING

- Quality
Definition: What is the complete explanation of this term and its actions on this project?
Goals – What are the intended results?
Realities – What are the realities of the external environment, such as increased specifications, innovative products, novel services, and government regulations – now and in the future.
Alignments and Enhancements – What synergies, including external partnerships and internal coupling of departments, would make things work better, such as safer, faster, less expensive, higher quality and more durable. What technology and other innovations would help your project improve?
Transformation(s) – How will you transform the project to exceed the industry average (gross amount, percentage, ratio etc.) in this area?
Measurements: What qualitative and quantitative data will you utilise to see if you are successful? Where will it come from? What industry framework will you use?
- Multi-Factor Productivity
