INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT 1
Regulations
Students must submit all materials supporting their coursework listed in the deliverable section.
- Please make sure that you are aware of the rules concerning plagiarism. If you are unclear about them, please consult your program coordinator/lecturer.
- Students will have 2 Plagiarism policies in place – double award students the UCLAN Plagiarism policy will override SEGi Plagiarism Policy. The appended table provides the summary of the 2 policies.

- The coursework should exhibit formal research skills i.e. with a table of content, proper citations, references, and appendixes.
- The coursework write up must be able to demonstrate critical analysis and application of both theory and practical issues to the company that you have selected.
- Student may include additional relevant data/information apart from the proposed guidelines in conjunction to your research. Additional marks will be awarded for such attempt.
- All written reports MUST be submitted for similarity checks to Turnitin.
- Extensions
Authorisation of the late submission of work requires written permission. Your lecturer is authorised to give permission for one extension period of between 1 and 10 working days where appropriate evidence of good reason has been accepted and where submission within this timescale would be reasonable taking into account your circumstances. Requests for extensions should be made prior to the submission date as extensions cannot be given retrospectively.
§ Late submissions
If you submit work late without authorisation, a universal penalty will be applied in relation to your work. The appended table summarises the SEGi/UCLAN penalties.

INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT 1
Based on an existing business in your chosen country, select ONE (1) ethical workplace issue from the list below:
- Unsafe working condition
- Whistle-blowing
- Bribe and fraud
- Employment discrimination
- Sexual harassment
Your report should:
- Describe the background of the ethical workplace issue.
- Critically analyse the ethical issue with the support of FOUR (4) relevant ethical theories.
- Propose FOUR (4) recommendations on how these issues could be overcome.
Critically discuss the selected issue in depth and provide more insights /details during the presentation. Marks will be based on your demonstration of broad understanding of the subject matter. Groups who selected the same ethical issue are required to choose different real life companies.

- Introduction – Explanation on the background information of the issue.
- Evaluation of the business by applying 4 relevant ethical theories – comment and justification
- Recommendations – How to overcome the issues

The total marks for this assignment is 100% but it carries 25% of overall assessment for this module.

INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENT 2
Business ethics issues are reported on regularly in the media. You are required to select ONE (1) industry/organization from the list below and conduct a thorough or detailed investigation of the incidents (strictly related to business ethics) that have reported on the newspapers or web for organisations in that particular industry/organization. You have the option to conduct the analysis based on one country (i.e., Malaysia only) or more than one country (i..e., US and China). All evidences obtained from the media should be compiled and presented at the appendices section.
Critically analyse and evaluate the incidents related to business ethics issues by applying at least FIVE (5) relevant business ethic theories. You are required to explain which stakeholders have been affected by the incidents and how interest of the stakeholders are affected? Lastly, formulate FIVE (5) strategies to overcome the reported incidents in the context of business ethics.

Recommendations: Suggest at least 5 strategies to overcome the reported incidents in the context of business ethics.
Conclusion: Outcomes from the analysis and evaluation.
