Section One – Occupational Competence
1.1 Planning and Organising Work |
Give examples from different projects of how you set objectives for a project and how you measured if they were met(use past experience) E.g.,Setting a Programme with milestones and checking targets being met with the programme you set Also add in how you identify the learning needs of some of your staff in this section. E.g., some of the junior engineers need Trainingon using equipment etc |
1.2 Managing Health, Safety and Welfare |
Give examples of the main hazards on a particular site such as WAH, Vehicle Movement, Asbestos ( in refurbishment), Fire, Confined Spaces, Dust, Excessive Heat etc. Add an example of you spotting something unsafe on site during a visit e.g., someone working at height on site without PPE and you correcting it, or no proper fire procedures etc. Identify the welfare provided (or that has not been provided) on site, Hot water, soap, towels, toilets, changing Rooms, lockers, canteen to eat food/rest, cool drinking water COVID-19 measures etc. |
1.3 Managing Quality |
You could give specifics example of problems with the qualityof work on a particular project e.g., the materials specified were not the ones being used or the workmanship was poor.( that you spot and correct.) Examples of your organisations quality procedures etc. |
1.4 Implementing Sustainable Construction Development |
Identify examples that will reduce the carbon footprint of the projects in the future: e.g. Solar Panels: Solar powered/LED street lighting: Recycled Materials used on projects or from the project: Shading from the Sun: Using Efficient Cooling Systems: Reducing Water use through the lifecycle of Projects etc. Identify examples of saving energy etc. during construction process (reusing material onsite) Also Identify relevant Environmental Legislation for your projects e.g.,Qatar Law No. 30 of 2002 promulgating the Law of the Environment Protection 30/2002 with articles on Environment and Sustainable Development, Wastes and Hazardous Materials, Waste, Groundwater, protection against pollution etc. The Qatar Green Building standard that encourages sustainable practices for green building design and development. |
1.5 Knowledge of Commercial, Contractual and Legal Issues |
Give examples of Contracts used (e.g., FIDIC, JCT, Design & Build) ,Clauses in the contracts being used and consequences if not used (costs involved, discussions with Clients). |
SectionTwo – Management Competence
2.1 Communication |
Give examples of Communicationthat you use e.g. Telephone, WhatsApp, Inductions, Emails, Formal Letters,PowerPoint Presentations, Toolbox Talks, Minutes of Meetings andthe different stakeholders. |
2.2 Decision Making |
Give examples of Identifying a problem, then coming up with a solution e.g., You can either get rid of contractor due to poor performance and get a new contractor or keep them but add more to their workforce,with all the costs, time and risks involved . Or selecting materials from a range of quality, price,function etc. (value engineering) |
2.3 Managing Information |
Give examples e.g., Information coming from and goingout to different places, Architects, Clients, Suppliers, Subcontractors, Local Authorities, Utilitiesetc.: Formal Letters, drawings, emails, contracts etc. hard copies sharing information and passing it on. Securing Information etc. |
2.4 Leadership and Strategic Management/Financial Management |
Giveexamples of long-term planning including Planning, Costing, Time & Risk Management and Outcomes. E.g. Starting a long- term project and getting it back on programme/budget by hiring local workers, more contractors etc. with the costs involved but not being liable for Liquidated Damages. (Use past experience) |
2.5 Developing People or Teams |
Give 2 examples of you giving your Team and/or Individual Appraisals resulting in training promotion etc. Training Plans for team/individuals and outcomes (You can use different employers) |
2.6 Innovation |
Give examples of innovation that you have suggested e.g., using drones, or new designs, software, BIM, new methods of working, new materials. Ideas that save or make money or save the environment etc. |

Give examples of something not part of your normal duties e.g. Maybe someone asking you to do something you are not trained to do, or being offered bribes, or helping a colleague/ site worker out with personal problems etc. |
