This assessment task provides the opportunity to demonstrate the students’ understanding of the different research philosophies and methodologies covered throughout the unit.

Students will provide a critical review and analysis of the literature on a specific nursing topic of their choice. Students are required to review a maximum of 10 research articles pertaining to the topic.

For this assessment:

Identify the topic of your interest;
Search library databases for research papers related to your topic;
Analyse and critically review a maximum of 10 research papers that are most relevant to the topic;
Argue and justify whether the methodology and methods are appropriate and how the findings of each research paper inform your chosen topic
Students are required to articulate, discuss and justify the strengths and weaknesses of their argument utilising the relevant literature
Assessment criteria:

Select a maximum of 10 research articles that provide the relevant evidence for your topic. Your articles must be ≤ 5 years old.
Use additional references from peer-reviewed journal articles to support your argument. Information cited from unreliable websites, pamphlets or magazines is not acceptable for this paper.
Your assignment must have sub-headings outlining the introduction and aims of the research.
In the body of your paper provide the research question/problem to be addressed, the significance of the inquiry, expected outcomes and socio-economic benefits.
Provide a critical overview of the literature describing the methods used, sample sizes, and a critique of the methods used.
Provide the research method, the steps are undertaken to conduct this inquiry, describe the access to and sample of participants, data collection, ethical responsibilities upholding NHMRC standards, and data analysis.
Provide an appropriate conclusion.
Use APA referencing format and guidelines in writing this paper.
