Main objectives of the assessment: In this assignment, students will develop a streaming video system between two RPis the first of which on verbal command, captures the video of a red dot from a first RPi and streams it to the second RPi where image processing calculates how much the red dot has moved left-right and up-down and communicates this to the first RPi to display direction of dot on screen. Students will the repeat the experiment (1) between first RPi and PC (2) between first RPi and function on a Multiaccess Edge Cloud Linux instance.
Brief Description of the assessment: The student will first develop software on a verbal command, a Remote Raspberry Pi to capture video of a red dot on a white background from a Web Cam and stream it to a Local Raspberry Pi on which the video will be received and image processing performed to detect how much the dot has moved in x-y directions since the previous video image. The Local RPi is then to transmit this x-y motion data to the Remote RPi on whose terminal this x-y data is to be displayed. This will be repeated (1) between a remote RPi and PC (2) between remote RPi and function on a Multiaccess Edge Cloud Linux instance. The student will record packet size, delay and jitter performance data of both image and data transmissions using Wireshark and present this data in suitable graphs comparing the performance of each of the systems with each other. A video of the system is to be submitted with the report and software that shows the systems working. .
Learning outcomes for the assessment (refer to the appropriate module learning outcomes) You will understand how to identify a research topic, formulate a research plan and provide initial design ideas. | Assessment and marking criteria The students will be required to provide: System Description and Diagram (1 page) – 25% Description of Systems Hardware and Software (2 – 4 pages) – 25% Wireshark Performance Results (2 – 4 pages) – 25% Video of working Systems – 25% |
