Project Title: What is your project called? (1 mark)
Problem Statement / Definition of Research Area (3 marks)
This is where you describe and present the problem to the reader (write in 3rd person)
Here are some points to prompt you as to what you need to include:
- What is your inquiry issue or problem and what is the area (region/location) that you are researching?
- How do we know this is a problem?
- Why does it exist?
- What is your problem impacting?
- Consider also including some context to set the scene.
- Include referenced statements including relating to data throughout (4 – 5 sentences).
Rationale (3 marks)
- You can start with a brief statement on how you came across or heard about this problem (maybe it is a recently discussed problem in the media or maybe this is an issue that you have seen every day).
- Consider why this question or problem is being investigated? (Include reasons and EVIDENCE you have found from your research so far). Highlight the evidence here that this is a problem or issue, consider the consequences if it wasn’t addressed. You can also link to sustainability here.
- 2 paragraphs with referenced statements/reasons, Write in 3rd person but this needs to be deeper than ‘I love animals’
Research Questions (5 marks)
- Minimum 4, maximum 8 researchable, opened questions, specific to your region/location of research (this includes a data question that is specific to the region of focus)
- Consider questions that would cover: defining the problem, exploring it, data related to the problem (don’t be limited by these, consider other questions related to your problem)
- Refer back to the Collaborates and Videos on Blackboard site on how to structure and formulate your Research Questions.
Resource identification (5 marks)
Identify 5 recent (in last decade) sources including research articles, government resources (from a trusted reputable source) and for each one briefly describe how each is relevant to your topic (you can add to this resource list during your inquiry). If the sources are older, explain why you are deciding to still use it.
APA 7th reference here (This column is not counted in word count) | Rationale – why is this resource important/relevant to your inquiry… (link to research questions) Make sure these resources are as up to date as possible (in the past decade). If they are older, explain why you are deciding to still use it. | |
