Abstract: The Abstract contains background, challenge, Objectives, Methodology, Results, Findings and contribution to practice/research. Background should be 2-3 sentences. Background should describe the motivation or challenge this research will address in the context of the title/cloud computing. The first sentence should explain the concept under investigation. Use signposting in the abstract such as bringing in the word challenge. For e.g. Computer vision aids the construction of partial images. However, completing the image is a challenge dependent on the quality of the incomplete image. For research objective, describe what you will do – e.g. This study proposes to build a dichotomous classifier that would spot duplicate commercial advertisements that feature the same product in an online marketplace. For methodology describe the steps required to replicate this research. Provide a complete accurate description of the research procedure followed, equipment used, the technique(s), applied, set-up of scenarios/case studies run.– name the data set and ML algorithms e.g. A Kaggle dataset of 3 million records used in the research. The dataset was imbalanced; data samples for duplicate class was less as compared to the non-duplicate class. Six oversampling technique were employed to achieve class balance in the dataset – Random oversampling, SMOTE, SMOTE-Borderline 1, SMOTE-Borderline 2, SVM SMOTE and ADASYN. Four classification models – Gradient Boosting Tree, Logistic Regression, Naive Bayes and SVM, were built on the sampled data to identify the duplicate advertisements and their results compared.

This proposal introduces and highlights important points about fake news and misinformation spread. A lot of damage has been caused because of them and therefore the scientific community have had their attention on it for a while. Several ML algorithms have been used to classify news articles as fake or real and some of them are very successful. However, the domain needs a lot of effort from the researches in order to develop an all-encompassing fake news detection system given that creating an unbiased dataset is hard.
Above all, despite a lot of researches have done a great job in detecting fake news they are still limited to the English language. The proposed work is to try and extend the most successful model found in the literature, as of now, and apply it to a Brazilian Portuguese dataset.
