SUMMARY
As matter or perception and principle, ethics are an important precursor to making informed and principled business decisions, taking into account not just the functional aspects of business, but also the subjective and spiritual values that should be part of every decision that are made in a business environment. Ethics takes a sterile business principle and adds the coloring of how humanity or individuals should weigh the importance and value of how their decisions impact one another. Infusing ethics into the process and understanding what is right and what is wrong informs parties of the elements at play which can lead to making better decisions with consideration to business needs and obligations. Not including ethics in the business decision-making process increases the possibility of negatively impacting the important asset of any business— its human capital. You will develop an ethics policy based on industry standards and then select a case to analyze by critiquing the company’s response, identifying the ethical issues, and discussing how your created policy would impact the company’s future response to ethical issues.
