Assessment 2 – The Customer Journey
This assessment has four (4) tasks and addresses the following criteria:
- PC 1.4. Research and analyse existing competitors in the market and review their product offering
- PC 2.2. Research and develop buyer personas within the target audience
- PC 2.3. Analyse buyer persona traits to identify a single persona to base the minimum viable product build
- PE Researched and identified the characteristics of a minimum of three buyer personas
- PC 1.1. Articulate the problem the product intends to solve
- PC 1.2. Define the main goal which must be fulfilled to satisfy a customer in solving this problem
- PC 1.3. Define the process in which users will use the product
- PC 2.1. Identify the target audience for the minimum viable product
- PE: Reviewed the process in which potential customers would wish to use the product
Task 1 – Customer Persona
Using the information gathered in Assessment 1, Task 2 (a) interviews, students must develop three (3) different 1-page user personas and determine which one (1) will be the focus of the MVP. This requires that students:
- Develop a 1-page user persona template, that has sections for:
- Name
- Needs/Wants
- Demographics (age, gender, religion, family status etc)
- Goals
- Hobbies and interests
- Challenges
- Common Objections
- Biggest Fears
- How the product can help
- What the marketing message should be to attract them
Students must submit
- Complete three (3) different user personas using the template below.

Task 2 – Customer Journey
Develop a user-journey map that specifies the process customers will follow when using/purchasing the product. This can be a diagram or a step-by-step explanation but should indicate the steps customers go through from when they hear about the product, to when they buy and use the product. Included a minimum of ten (10) steps.
Students must submit
- Paragraph articulating the problem the product intends to solve.
- Define the main goal which must be fulfilled to satisfy a customer in solving this problem.
- A photo (whiteboard), diagram or the step-by-step explanation of their customer’s journey.

Task 3 – Existing competitor analysis
Students must research and analyse a minimum of two (2) competitors or products that exist in the market already, then write and submit a competitor summary:
