This being our second-to-last Tutorial, it is important to ensure we are all comfortable with the requirements of the online quiz test (MCQ), which takes place at the end of week 11, and the Individual Reflective Journal, which each student must write and submit by Friday of week 12.
Your MCQ is worth 20 marks and consists of 80 questions. You have 2 hours to complete the test and may consult your lecture notes, tutorial slides and/or your online text book (access it via the link given in your Unit Outline). All questions must be answered in the time available. Once you start the test do not exit until you are finished.
Your Individual Reflective Journal is Assignment 3 and is worth 30 marks. Each student must do this on your own. The purpose is to ensure each student is able to document a critical reflection of their personal learning process, as experienced during this unit. It will be best to have been building your journal progressively, by making notes each week, starting at week 1 and going through to week 12. If you have done that then your notes will serve as a reminder of which sections you personally contributed to, what you learnt, and how you experienced the learning process.
A significant aspect of the learning journal will be your reflections on how well your team co-operated in the Literature Review group project, what your specific role was, any challenges that you had to deal with, how you coped, what you learnt, and how you think you might do things differently in future Business research projects.
It is essential that your emphasis be on what you experienced, what challenged you personally, how you dealt with that and what you gained from it. It is NOT enough to just summarise what was done. This assignment must reflect and describe your own personal deep learning AND be authentic so as to convince the reader of the extent of your integral understanding and engagement throughout the research process.
Think of this as if you were writing to a friend or family member, giving your honest views on your personal learning journey as an early researcher. Note: Do NOT fabricate any information, just tell your story honestly, from your personal perspective.
Assignment Structure should be as the following:
- Page 1: Cover Sheet (individual assignment cover sheet)
- Page 2 onwards: My personal reflections of the work I performed in the literature review i.r.o. RQ1, 2, 3, and 4 (specify which you were personally involved in): how I experienced this, what challenges I faced, and what I learnt from that.
- Final page: What I learnt from the curriculum (lectures and tutorials) and MCQ test and how I intend to apply my knowledge of research in the future
